Manages a section in Accounting Services; coordinates activities of personnel to carry out departmental objectives related to assigned funding sources and/or systems management to include interpretation and compliance of relevant regulations, policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the activities of personnel engaged in the management of the university's funds.
  • Assist in oversight of responsible funds by performing compliance reviews and edit checks to monitor accounting records for accuracy. Assist with audits (internal or external) when needed.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of institutional and departmental policy and procedure and campus-wide training programs for university staff. Contribute to the development, testing and implementation of automation projects including Dynamic Forms, Cognos reports, RPA, and IT applications.
  • Assist in establishing university funds specific to assigned fund ranges and perform fund close-out procedures as necessary. Monitor & maintain funds, including proactive communication with departments, fund and organizational managers as issues develop, assistance is needed in processing fund transactions & all other items as applicable.
  • Manage accounting functions for Texas Research Incentive Program (TRIP) funding, including maintenance of the TRIP database application, and prepare/complete annual AFR entries as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a job related field plus five years' experience related to the assigned area; OR a combination or education and/or related experience equal to nine years.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Accounting or business-related degree with accounting/finance-related work experience.
  • Experience in higher education or governmental accounting (including Federal and State regulations and institutional policy), fund accounting, Banner, Financial Applications and/or Cognos.

Pay Statement
