The School comprises approximately 200 faculty FTE, 50 professional researchers, 120 postdoctoral scholars, 45 lecturers, 200 staff, and 100 student workers. It serves 4,000 undergraduate majors, 700 graduate students, and enrolls 76,000 students annually. With $184M in annual expenditures, including $76M in sponsored research, the School occupies 600,000 square feet across eight buildings, supporting diverse instructional, research, and recharge facilities. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Student Advising Program Manager works collaboratively with the Physical Sciences Department advising offices, Vice Chairs, and Associate Deans to develop and manage academically oriented programming aligned with undergraduate and graduate student services needs. The incumbent provides expert academic advising to students, guiding them through a full range of requirements for the department, college, or school including, navigating a wide variety of course requirements. Recommends solutions to progression and requirement issues. Advice may include not-clearly-defined programs such as independent study programs, interdisciplinary programs, or multiple programs. This role ensures the implementation of best practices across the School, incorporating department-specific program/advising needs, student academic and professional support, student organization support, and advancing the dean's strategic goals and vision for the School of Physical Sciences. Works independently under general supervision. Using skills as a seasoned, experienced student services professional, provides the full range of student services within an organization such as an academic department, school, or college. Independently advises students and resolves student services-related issues on the full range of academic issues inherent within the organization. Advises faculty and management on a variety of student issues. Works with the department's / school's / college's management to recommend policies, practices, and procedures changes. Guidance on issues requiring in-depth knowledge of specialized programs is provided by offices specializing in those fields, e.g., the financial aid office, graduate division, or student learning center, OR by the chair/dean and faculty of the department/school/college. May administer funds for student programs. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
