Position Overview
Essential Job Duties |
The position is funded by an
NSF collaborative grant with Dr. Sebastian Bednarek and Dr. Luis Vidali. The main responsibility of this position is to optimize and increase the application of E3
DART, a plant-compatible degron tool for inactivation of protein targets in plants (see Huang and Rojas-Pierce, 2024, Plant Cell). This system will enable the characterization of plant essential proteins even for studies of highly dynamic processes such as endomembrane trafficking. Duties are to develop new targeted protein degradation systems in plants. Experiments to be conducted include molecular cloning, plant transformation, analysis of gene expression and protein accumulation in plants, light microscopy and biochemistry. The postdoc will also be responsible for training of undergraduate students and participating in outreach activities. The postdoc will meet frequently with Dr. Rojas-Pierce to discuss best practices in grant writing, manuscript preparation, and mentoring.
