Role Description

Summary

The Senior/Principal formulation (with specialization in physiological pharmaceutics i.e., biopharmaceutics) Scientist will supervise partnerships with both internal departments and external partners to optimize biopharmaceutics data for the benefit of pharmaceutical scientists. The role entails identifying and managing collaborative opportunities, planning and executing collaborative projects, and communicating the findings of such projects to pharmaceutical scientists. The scientist will work in a matrix organization with internal collaborators in formulation design, dissolution method development, pharmacokinetics, and regulatory affairs. Furthermore, the scientist will collaborate with academic and industry partners to develop PBPK models for animal health.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and manage collaborative opportunities with other departments and external partners.
  • Develop and implement collaborative projects.
  • Communicate the results of collaborative projects to pharmaceutical scientists.
  • Provide technical expertise to pharmaceutical scientists on biopharmaceutics-related topics.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in biopharmaceutics.
  • Contribute to the development of new biopharmaceutics-based technologies and methods.
  • Work in a matrix organization with internal collaborators in formulation design, dissolution method development, pharmacokinetics, and regulatory affairs.
  • Coordinate the activities of the collaborative teams and ensure that they are working towards common goals.
  • Resolve conflicts and ensure that collaborative projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and validate biopredictive dissolution methods.
  • Build and validate in vitro-in vivo correlation (IVIVC) models.
  • Support dissolution method specifications and post-commercial changes.
  • Execute virtual bioequivalence trials.
  • Collaborate with academic and industry partners to develop PBPK models for animal health.

Qualifications

  • PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biopharmaceutics, computational biology, chemical engineering or a related field.
  • 0-5+ years of experience in biopharmaceutics research.
  • Experience with collaborative research.
  • Exceptional understanding of the interconnectivity between formulation science, biopharmaceutics (Physiological Pharmaceutics), pharmacokinetics, and global regulatory expectations
  • Familiarity in the use of PBPK modeling tools (e.g., Gastroplus, SimCYP) and specialized IVIVC tools such as Certara Phoenix IVIVC Toolkit or Simulation Plus IVIVC Plus etc
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization.
