The assignment of Water Safety Instructor includes planning and conducting water safety and swimming lessons. Both assignments include remaining vigilant, enforcing rules, and responding promptly to emergencies. These roles extend beyond reactive measures; and are expected to proactively contribute to a secure environment by conducting daily inspections of emergency equipment. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties of the Water Safety Instructor assignment include:
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Lifeguard: must be 16 years of age or older at time of application.
Water Safety Instructor assignment: must be 17 years of age or older at time of application. Must have a minimum of 1 year of Water Safety, Lifeguard, or related experience. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifeguard: * Current Lifeguard certification * Current CPR certification Water Safety Instructor: * Current Water Safety Instructor certification * Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent. SALARY, BARGAINING UNIT & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This "Non Tested" position may be General or Special Funds.
This part time or seasonal position is not eligible to receive medical benefits, vacation pay, union membership, or union contractual benefits. Any period of part time employment will not be construed in any way to mean probationary employment. Persons may not be employed in two concurrent positions with the City and/or the Board of Education at the same time.
Seasonal employment not to exceed 120 calendar days.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: (1) a pre-employment background check, and (2) a pre-employment drug screening in accordance with the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy*.
