The Business Application Development Group (BADG) team is dedicated to developing custom applications and data integrations that support both Health Sciences and campus stakeholders by delivering high-quality, accurate, and secure solutions that align with both stakeholder needs and campus/ITS objectives.

The BADG team is a delivery-focused team that prioritizes stakeholder satisfaction by addressing real needs and fostering collaboration among all team members. We align with ITS tools and processes while taking ownership of our domains, developing expertise, and holding ourselves accountable for delivering results.

Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the Director of BADG, the position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex, cross-platform software solutions that support a variety of administrative systems, including Budget and Finance, Sponsored Research, Contracting, Space/Facilities, and more.

  • This role demands extensive experience with programming languages and frameworks such as Java, Spring, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and complex multi-join SQL queries.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for technical design, integration, and support, troubleshooting issues, and recommending solutions within defined procedures and practices.

  • The incumbent will also be responsible for developing and maintaining data integration scripts to ensure seamless and secure data exchange between campus systems and vendor-provided solutions.

  • Role includes managing software operations, ensuring data security, and performing ongoing optimization of application systems.

  • The incumbent should be proficient in application development and integration techniques and have a strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile processes (e.g. Scrum and Kanban).

  • Experience with SOA, Web Services, and cloud-based platforms will be beneficial.

  • The incumbent must possess the ability to analyze complex issues, take technical ownership of applications and integrations across the BADG portfolio, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment to meet organizational goal

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Broad knowledge of various areas of IT.

  • Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation. Basic knowledge of secure software development. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications.

  • Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis.

  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.

  • Demonstrated experience with database administration. Working knowledge of database management systems and standards. Knowledge relating to database system design. Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.

  • Proficient in writing complex SQL queries with multi-table joins, subqueries, and aggregations to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets. Demonstrated experience in optimizing queries for performance and scalability within a relational database environment.

  • Experience in developing and deploying backend services that interact with databases, including implementing RESTful APIs for data access and ensuring seamless communication between front-end applications and data layers.

  • Proficient in building user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as Angular or React. Demonstrated ability to create dynamic, responsive, and user-friendly interfaces that integrate seamlessly with backend services and data.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $85,400 - $156,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $40.90 - $75.10

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
