We are seeking an outgoing Field Application Engineer (FAE) with a robust design background to support our user interface business. The role involves advising on user interface solutions, utilizing technologies such as printed electronics, graphics, plastic injection molded parts, and more. The FAE's expertise will range from capacitive touch foils to complex electro-mechanical subassemblies, primarily using flexible silver-printed circuits, copper-based flexible circuits, or standard rigid FR4 boards for the electronic portion of the assembly.

Our Team

As part of our Printed Circuit Solutions (PCS) group, the FAE will assist Business Development Managers (BDMs) in acquiring new business by understanding customer needs, documenting requirements, crafting compelling technical proposals, and starting early development work. They will collaborate with BDMs, the costing team, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on product cost variables and technical decisions.

What You Will Do

* Work with the customer to gather Voice of the Customer (VOC) and translate the VOC into design requirements.
* Collaborate with Business Development and Sales Engineers to initiate projects, perform front-end technical work, and hand off design details to the design team.
* Utilize technical capabilities to help drive sales and win new business opportunities.
* Ability to make assumptions and conceptualize ideas to assist in the ideation of the best solution for a customer using Molex PCS capabilities.
* Capable of estimating part costs for initial ballpark estimates prior to executing a full cost activity.
* Follow product development process and collaborate with cross functional team for overall project success.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related program
* Prior experience with mechanical design of user interfaces and understanding of the manufacturing processes to make them
* Eligible to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future
* Able to travel 25-50% of the time
* Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software to create engineering solutions
* Strong organizational skills for capturing the voice of the customer and understanding their design requirements including Bill of Materials, engineering drawings and specifications
* Ability to convey technical concepts and influence customer direction
* Eager to learn the designs that Molex PCS uses to provide solutions for our customers to build flexible printed electronics
* Effective communication skills for interacting with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, business development managers, salespeople, and management

What Will Put You Ahead

* Understanding of electronic schematics and board layout principles
* Experience with a requirements management system (Polarion preferred)
* Knowledge of topics such as printed electronics, printed graphics, plastic injection molded parts, silicone rubber parts, adhesives, and electrical components.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

For this role, we anticipate paying $80,000 - $100,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
