Are you ready to make a significant impact on the future of food innovation? As a scientist at The Campbell's Company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our entire product portfolio. Our fast-paced R&D analytical lab provides critical data to solve complex technical challenges facing Campbell's products. Acting as a forensic scientist, you will investigate issues ranging from off-flavors to rheology. Expertise in flavor and aroma analysis is of primary importance for this role, as you will be relied upon for the maintenance and operation of Campbell's gas chromatography instruments and the interpretation of the results obtained. Additional skills in HPLC, DSC, and rheology are also highly desirable. Your work will have a direct impact on overcoming development and launch hurdles for new products and solving critical issues in current manufacturing processes. As a leader in the analytical space and within R&D, your insights and voice will be instrumental in key discussions about the challenges facing Campbell's products. What you will do...

  • Provide expertise in flavor and aroma analysis for Campbell, while also executing a range of analyses from HPLC to rheology (60%).
  • Independently develop and validate new analytical methods to address research questions and execute all necessary analyses (15%).
  • Conduct research of primary literature and generate clear, concise reports of analytical lab results (15%).
  • Maintain analytical equipment in the labs and proactively order lab supplies as needed (10%).
  • Independently learn and operate existing instruments and methods.
  • Develop new methodologies as needed to execute projects.
  • Maintain instruments and proactively order lab supplies.
  • Clearly communicate (both written and oral) the results of analytical work to drive faster and better project decisions.
  • Rapidly research primary literature to develop hypotheses and explain analytical results.

What you bring to the table (must have) ...

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the Sciences or related field
  • 3 years of food or nutrition industry experience
  • 3 years' experience working in an analytical lab

It would be great to have...

  • Master's degree in Food Science or an analytical-related field is preferred.
  • Experience commercializing products/processes in the manufacturing environment is a bonus.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to express highly technical ideas and concepts both in written and oral formats; presentation skills are required.
  • Superior record-keeping of work results, data, and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and risk-based decision-making skills.
  • Project management experience with the ability to analyze data, summarize findings, and coordinate cross-functional teamwork. Experience with Agile methodology is a plus.
  • Ability to influence and communicate with functional partners and clients in a way that fosters collaboration.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, seek creative solutions, and react rapidly to changes in direction.
  • Highly effective team player, willing to contribute in a wide variety of areas.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$92,700-$133,300

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
