As a Biopharma Production Systems Specialist (BPSS) at Avantor, you will play a pivotal role inthe support of our customers as they work to make life-changing therapies a reality for patients. TheBPSS is accountable for customer consultation, sales and support of Avantor BiopharmaProduction hardware platforms and associated consumable products in their assigned territory.Systems Specialists are responsible for partnering with their fellow regional Biopharma ProductionSpecialist team to build and execute effective territory and account-based strategies thatsuccessfully achieve business objectives. This is a remote role with expected travel. Preferred candidates will reside in Maryland, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania. This position is aligned to the Biopharma Production Business Unitand reports directly to the Regional Director of Biopharma Production Sales. What we're looking for
Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or relevant life/sciences concentration(s);Masters degree is a plus. Experience: Minimum 5 years in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or supplyingtechnical products to the biopharma industry or similar/relevant experience.
Collaboration Tool: Strong knowledge of MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word). Preferred Qualifications:
How you will thrive and create an impact The BPSS is viewed by both the company and customers as a technical expert in the production ofbiologics (e.g. Upstream manufacture, Downstream manufacture and Fill & Finish). They shouldhave strong written and verbal communication skills and excel in establishing, maintaining, andgrowing business relationships with customers. They will actively lead initiatives with theircolleagues to identify, develop, and close new business opportunities for their assigned regionalBiopharma Product Sales team.
Sales Strategy - Create and execute effective territory and account-based strategies toaccelerate pipeline development and establish new customers to exceed territory businessgoals for hardware platforms and associated consumables. Pipeline Management - Take a leading role in the management of pipeline opportunitiesfollowing the qualification stage by using our CRM platform and associated businessintelligence (BI) tools. Key responsibilities include customer consultation and requirementsgathering, opportunity strategy and proposal creation, presentation of Avantor valueproposition, execution of technical product demonstration and negotiation of final contractterms and pricing. New Business Generation - Raise regional awareness through the support of opportunitynurturing and promotional activities such as technical presentations and applicationsdevelopment to establish credibility with technical end-users. Relationship Management - Ensure post-sale customer satisfaction and maintenance of anetwork of successful users to encourage long-term adoption of Biopharma ProductionHardware and associated consumables. Play a role in customer relationship mapping toidentify end-users of our products and systems. Product Strategy - Partner closely with Product Management and Strategic Marketing todefine commercial product strategies and help monitor the success of these strategiesusing available CRM and BI tools. Sales Team Effectiveness - Foster an environment of continuous learning and informationsharing across the team. Support Sales Operations and Strategic Marketing to develop anddeliver sales training. Sales Process Administration - Use CRM system for consistent reporting and informationexchange. Closely track the sales cycle, competitive position, forecasted sales and win/lossresults to support business insights and sales strategy refinement. Dynamic Support - Participate in or lead other special projects or duties as assigned.
