The Opportunity: In this role, you will report to the Director, Site Services and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel - and our customers - to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. What we're looking for:
Associates degree or undergraduate degree in business or science related field is preferred. Degree in Logistics / Supply Chain desirable. High school diploma or GED required. 1-2 years of procurement, expediting, order management and/or business experience required. 3+ years' experience in purchasing or account management preferred. Strong analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with both customers and various departments within Avantor. Microsoft Excel skills at expert level required. High Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Proficiency of Information Access and ERP Systems required. SAP Experience highly desirable. Inside sales experience a plus. Formal problem-solving training highly desirable. Familiarity with contracts desirable. Strong Presentation skills desirable Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety, security clearances and medical checkups. High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures. Must be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task oriented. Ability to self-manage and self-motivate and be forward thinking. Ability to make sound business decisions with limited consultation with manager
In this role you will:
Provide critical business insight and operational recommendations to two regional sites (Tarrytown and Rensselaer, NY) manufacturing and R&D operations. Resolve complex and/or escalated issues regarding critical products and data sets. Support expert level control, execution, and process improvement within a quality inventory management program (consumables, chemicals, samples, etc.) including accurate inventory control, fulfilling customer metric reporting, and providing detailed analyses. Consults with customer production lines and manufacturing groups to understand demand forecasts; schedules material lots and reviews pricing. Serves as a liaison between the customer and supplier for product sourcing. Enters inventory, purchasing, and QC data into applicable Avantor and customer systems; assists in 3rd party vendor and item set-up. Assists in qualifying new suppliers not through Avantor. Reviews and interprets contracts. Responsible for standing order set-up and maintenance within Avantor and customer systems for planning. Coordinates material delivery and set-up/installation; assists with emergency deliveries. Change Notification compliance - updates engineering change orders, part# updates, adding/deleting materials when needed. Liaison for customer to negotiate pricing with Avantor and non- Avantor suppliers seeking beneficial supplier agreements. Provides reporting on material planning, open order, metrics, etc. Ensures compliance to regulatory agencies within scope of work. Works with appropriate parties to resolve nonconformance issues for raw materials; documents complaints, supplier investigation, root cause analysis of non-conformance, supplier corrective action (SCAR), and pre-planned deviations. Processes International, domestic and capital orders; reconciles invoices. Provides audit support and attends vendor shows as needed. Provides general Customer Service assistance: order processing, quotes, sample requests, returns, billing resolution or other duties as assigned.
