Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose |
Under the supervision of the Group Practice Manager, the Registration Receptionist supports a variety of duties related to patient intake and welcomes and assists all patients arriving at the Dental School Sacramento CA Campus. |
Essential Functions |
- Welcome patients to the School of Dentistry; triage and direct patients to appropriate area/department as necessary; communicate with clinic staff regarding patient arrivals as needed.
- Observe and ensure the smooth flow through the patient entrance, registration area, and check-in kiosk. Report issues to Public Safety, the appropriate department, or individuals. Work closely with Group Practice Coordinators, Main Clinic Schedulers, and other clinic Managers to ensure a smooth flow of patients.
- Assist patients and visitors in understanding the check-in process by providing kiosk and entry instructions as needed. Contact appropriate department for entry system errors or issues.
- Verify DentiCal eligibility for patients of the main clinic and emergency clinic, enter information in AxiUm; complete insurance intake form; respond to DentiCal eligibility inquiries; notify patients if eligibility cannot be verified and provide information regarding next steps.
- Coordinate emergency patient walk-ins including registration, review, and collection/scanning of necessary forms and identification. Verify and update demographic information in the clinic management system. Provide emergency protocols to patients and communicate with emergency coordinator to schedule patients.
- During non-peak hours, log into the ACD phone system and assist with all main clinic incoming calls, including patient inquiries, confirming appointments, new patient registration, and screening appointments.
- Respond to requests for additional information and/or documentation required for chart completion; communicate and follow-up with appropriate personnel to facilitate resolution.
- Serve as backup for Main Clinic Schedulers as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area; organize supplies and forms at the reception desk.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Group Practice Manager.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in a customer service position, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Two (2) years of experience working front desk/receptionist duties.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications |
Knowledge of:
- Patient intake and registration in a healthcare setting.
- Dental terminology and insurance billing procedures.
- Axium dental software program or other clinic patient information system is desirable.

Hiring Range |
$20.16 - $26.70 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
