SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES It is the responsibility of the Managing Director of Fixed Income Strategies to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, using specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to support the sales force within Debt Capital Markets. The functions include working closely with the fixed income sales force to meet the demands of their institutional clients by helping the clients generate income, preserve capital, and/or improve overall portfolio diversification. This position will oversee the Fixed Income Strategies Desk and its strategists. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise the Strategies Desk and the registered strategists of the broker-dealer
- Serve as the point person for Bondedge and any other vendor relationships necessary to the analytics process
- Oversee the training of rookie salespersons by incorporating them into the Strategies process until they transfer to Sales, and provide continued training on the methods of successful fixed income sales until the salespersons graduate from the rookie program
- Review and approve written correspondence and communication with the public in accordance with regulations and firm policies
- Work with Institutional Fixed Income clients to identify and assess investment needs and recommend suitable investment strategies and solutions
- Develop balance sheet strategies and portfolio analytics for institutional clients
- Use analytical tools and methodologies to select fixed income products for each client
- Collaborate with sales force by assisting in the development of marketing materials and by participating in sales presentations as appropriate
- Identify trends in the fixed income market and implements appropriate corrective action for clients
- Prepare written explanations of economic, regulatory, market-related and/or fixed income security-specific information and analytics for sales to forward to clients and use to develop relationships and establish dialogue with institutional clients
- Assist with retention of existing accounts through periodic meetings with clients
- Provide assistance and/or training to the Fixed Income Business Unit
- Maintain compliance with MSRB, FINRA, and SEC regulations
- Ensure that the Bank's policies and procedures, code of conduct, and regulatory guidelines are strictly complied with
- Provide assistance to other employees through healthy and positive interactions
- Be involved in performing marketing endeavors/efforts
- Continuously update skills by participating in professional training

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or related field
- Experience: 5+ years' experience in Fixed Income strategies or analytics preferred
- Certifications/Specific Knowledge: Must possess a strong understanding of macroeconomics and fixed income markets; Must possess strong leadership skills and an ability to work well with others; Requires strong knowledge of personal computer, Microsoft Office and other software used in department; Must be able to prepare documents and compose business letters and memorandums; Must have good knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation; Requires knowledge of office practices, procedures, and general office machines. SIE, Series 7, Series 24, and Series 63 exams required or the successful completion of these exams within 90 days of hire
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES Required annual compliance training, New Employee Orientation, obtain and/or maintain applicable securities licenses (FINRA Series 7, Series 24, Series 63, and SIE). PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports. This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position is in an open trading floor with an individual workstation. This position is located in an environment that may be loud throughout the day. If telecommuting, there must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. TRAVEL Travel as needed to client locations and to represent the firm at client/industry events as requested.
