Quality Systems Engineer

Location

This role can be based in Rochester, NH or Boerne, TX.

Job Purpose

To perform day to day duties of Quality Systems Engineering to successfully support Albany Engineered Composites global locations.

  • Drive quality/business management system (QMS/BMS) improvements and modifications to improve effectiveness and compliance to AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and NADCAP requirements.
  • Provide guidance to key suppliers with any quality system issues or concerns AEC may have.
  • Provides support for evaluation of customer specific requirements regarding the Quality Management System.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards for development and manufacture of composite products.
  • Supports the definition and identification of new quality strategies and quality system tools and drive continuous improvement for the common AEC global Quality Management System.
  • Supports monitoring, evaluation, analysis, and improvement of Quality KPIs and leads and/or supports improvement projects.
  • Anticipates, understands, and meets internal/external customers' needs and expectations. Develops solutions based on a customer centric approach.
  • Lead or participate in quality investigations into on-site or supply chain issues.
  • Conducts auditing activities; internal, customer, supplier and 3rd party (Nadcap, AS9100 etc).

Qualifications/Characteristics:



  • BS Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field (equivalent experience in aerospace quality systems may be considered)
  • 5+ years' experience in aerospace quality/manufacturing industry
  • SAP or other major MRP system experience
  • Experience in ISO 9001/AS9100 Industry Standards
  • Knowledge of OASIS and audit databases
  • Measurement and test methods supporting GD&T, metrology techniques
  • Statistical analysis (JMP, Minitab) skills with strong attention to detail
  • Quality system, process and product auditing
  • RCCA activities (8D Methodology)
  • MS Office proficient (Excel, Powerpoint and Visio skills required)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, proven-problem solving abilities, strong team player, and resourcefulness.
  • 2+ years' experience in Quality Systems or Quality Auditing preferred.
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification preferred.
  • Supplier Quality Management experience given preference.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) given preference.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings, CAD experience a plus


Working Conditions

Indoor production environment, duties performed indoors, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to be available as business situations required. Occasional travel required.

Physical requirements

Occasionally positions self to move an office item >10 lbs.

Frequently move about the production floor and office area to attend meetings or trainings

Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time

Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc...
