The Role:

We are looking for our next Engineering Co-op within our Research & Development (R&D), Core Ingredients team. The Engineering Co-op will report to the R&D Process Group Manager, Americas, and will be responsible for various projects within Roquette's Research & Development, Core Ingredients division.

This position is located onsite in Geneva, IL

What We Offer:

  • 6-month paid co-op role (June 2025- December 2025), with a monthly housing stipend
  • The hourly rate of pay for this role is $23/hour

What You'll Do:

  • Provide process and pilot support to R&D team for polyol technology development, protein technology development, and pilot trials
  • Execute lab process and pilot experiments defined by R&D process engineers and protein chemists following equipment SOP's and operating standards
  • Maintain food processing plant sanitation standards, including equipment CIP and other cleaning as needed
  • Responsible for operating and basic trouble shooting of lab and pilot equipment
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe and well-organized working environment in the pilot plant, storage room, and boiler room.
  • Assist Process Development staff with receipt of products and ingredients, storage of samples, accurately weighing ingredients and products, preparing products and samples for testing and evaluation in both the lab and pilot plant.
  • Maintain pilot plant equipment and documentation as required by GMP programs.
  • Perform all duties with accuracy for quality results.
  • Identify and communicate equipment and facility improvement options/issues to supervisor.
  • Other tasks and independent projects as assigned.
  • Contribute to a safe and environmentally friendly workplace with good team spirits

What You'll Need:

Education:

  • Sophomore or Junior level students pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited program

Experience:

  • Results-based, goal-focused mindset with a natural curiosity, demonstrated by extracurricular involvement in clubs or community
  • Leadership and/or work experience to supplement strong student achievement
  • Prior internship experience in a related field is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

Work Environment

  • This role spends approximately 25% of the time in an office environment and 75% of the time in the lab/pilot plant environment
    • Must have the ability to climb ladders, frequently lift, carry and/or push light to heavy materials as well as stand and walk most of the day

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is an hourly position, M-F. Interns are not to exceed 40 hours per week
