Job Description

The College Project Director leads the College Project Team (CPT) and oversees all stages of Campus Projects from planning to close-out. This role involves close collaboration with the PMO, College, and District to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with District policies and SOPs. The Director also presents project information to various District stakeholders and assists CPT members as needed. As the senior-most member of the CPLT and CPT, the Director is expected to create and present information about Campus Projects periodically to multiple District stakeholder groups, including College/District Committees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Lead a construction team in line with district and program policies for college construction bond operations.
  • Train team on LACCD and PMO policies and procedures.
  • Execute the program Quality Management System.
  • Report and collaborate with the Program Management Office on all project matters.
  • Review and develop contract documents.
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and report on the performance of the College Project Management team and construction projects.
  • Identify risks and create mitigation plans.
  • Document and report all project data accurately and timely.
  • Present project and college data to multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Manage and execute 10 to 40 projects simultaneously, with values ranging from $10M to $80M.
  • Deliver construction projects on schedule and within budget.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a related field (5 years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education).
  • 15+ years of experience managing multiple major construction projects. 7 years in educational facility design and construction working with Division of the State Architect (DSA).
  • Experience in a large capital improvement program and familiarity with the California Public Contract Code.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, and closeout.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods and formal construction partnering.
  • Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect (California Architectural Board) or Professional Engineer (California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors) or current id Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $165,000-$180,500.
