EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required

* Education
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Medical Technology or related field. or

* Experience
5 years experience of increasing responsibility in a laboratory managerial role in the healthcare setting and
Experience in managing complex processes, developing and implementing testing/assays, process improvements, people management and staff developments (employee morale and turnover, development of staff orientation and training programs, on-the job development, conflict resolution.

Preferred

* Education
Master's Degree in Health Administration, Business or Public Health

* Licenses and Certifications
(CMT) CERT MEDICAL TECHNICIAN and
(ASCP) AMER SOC CLIN PATH and
AMT


JOB DUTIES

* Plans, coordinates, and supervises general duties of their area/s of responsibilities in the Clinical Laboratory Services. Ensures efficient scheduling of staff to perform daily activities of area. Interviews and recommends selection of new laboratory personnel. Applies quality, efficiency and access metrics to define project staffing needs

* Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the Quality Assurance activities of their area/s. Provides management reports on status of QA activities. Meets deadlines in accordance with regulatory, hospital, and department guidelines. Ensures review of all daily, weekly and monthly records and all compliance audits are up to date.

* Monitor orders and allocation of all laboratory supplies and materials; maintains adequate inventory to ensure efficient operation of the area/s. Makes sound decisions that consider cost versus benefit. Monitors expenditures for personnel, equipment and supplies.

* Accountable for the laboratory in maintaining accreditation with College of American Pathologists (CAP), Centers for Medicare, The Joint Commission (TJC), and Medicaid Services (CMS), licensing for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA. Ensures laboratory is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Updates policies and procedures when indicated complying with regulations and department guidelines.

* Maintains personnel records; completes performance evaluations, performs and documents competency evaluations, and trains both clerical and technical support using skills according to department and university guidelines.

* Demonstrates continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Hospital performance improvement targets. Uses process improvements to define and enhance work processes.

* Participates in work of department as may be required by workload.

* Performs other duties as assigned.
