About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Quality Manager to join us as a key member of our highly technical research and development team.As part of the Oxford Instruments Group, X-ray Technology (XT) is a leading global manufacturer of world class high-performance X-ray sources. Our customers - Industry leaders in X-ray system applications - greatly value the quality, performance, and cost-effective solutions that we provide. Oxford XT products address applications in analysis, spectroscopy, gauging, and imaging. Our portfolios can be adapted to the individual requirements of our customers. They contribute worldwide to new insights and solutions in many areas of science, research, and development.This position is based full-time on site at the X-Ray Technology office in Scotts, Valley, CA.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you'll be at the heart of ensuring that our products are produced to the highest standards. As a key leader in our organization, you'll oversee quality assurance and manufacturing engineering functions, driving teams to success and pushing the envelope on quality improvement. Drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet these established criteria are necessary for successful job performance. While the pace of the work is faster than average, quality is never compromised. The focus of communication and organizational relationships is based on technical expertise. The work requires specialized technical problem solving and ingenuity while working within approved organizational systems and technology, and the demonstration of the values of integrity, quality and caution. New ideas and concepts are also important but will be carefully analyzed and tested before communication and adoption. There is a need for someone who can exercise the necessary authority over direct reports to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met. At the same time, it will be necessary to give those direct reports structured opportunity to develop their own expertise and capability for quality work to assure effective delegation and shared responsibility for work output. It is expected that coaching and training support for achieving effective delegation will be required. The position encompasses a defined span of control and opportunity for someone who engenders trust, demonstrates a sense of urgency and assures consistent achievement of quality standards. The work requires making decisions that support company guidelines authoritatively and quickly.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to tackle quality challenges head-on.
  • Act as an internal auditor and audit coordinator to keep us on track and ahead of the game.
  • Partner with suppliers and customers to resolve quality concerns and drive product excellence. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, reduce costs, and support new product development (NPI).
  • Meet targets and objectives as identified and communicated by Director of Operations.
  • Proactively identify risks and proposes solutions in time to still meet budget and schedule.
  • Help the company monitor and control inventory cost, quantity, and distribution.

Required Qualifications:



  • BSc/BA in Engineering or Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance and manufacturing engineering..
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS 9100, ISO 13485, etc.) and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt, Black Belt) or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.



Desired Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role preferred

Salary: In accordance with California law, the expected annual base salary range for this position is between $140,000 - $150,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
