We welcome you the opportunity to leave yours! The nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an Engineer to support the hull coating group at our Groton, CT. location. This team of highly skilled and dedicated employees will perform engineering functions as well as assist Operations Trades and Supervisors as they perform construction activities with respect to hull coatings, and assist in maintaining VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA class construction schedules by ensuring construction readiness. The Non-Metallics Engineering group is responsible for the system engineering, project management, and implementation of hull coatings and related non-metallic shipboard material systems. This position will be looking at new materials and technologies to expand the submarine performance. The primary functions include the development and qualification of new non-metallic materials and material concepts, and the development of new technologies for installing these materials/systems on submarines and other platforms to enhance platform performance. The non-metallic materials technologies will target next generation submarine design as well as technology insertions on existing submarines classes (COLUMBIA, SEAWOLF, VIRGINIA, Trident and Los Angeles). The position will leverage lessons learned and ship performance from current submarines under construction at EB, Quonset Point and NNS to target opportunities for technology advancements.
