Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation, per MSHA and Vulcan standards. Safety, Health, and Environmental. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for assuring compliance with all internal and external laws, regulations, and policies regarding safety, health, and the environment within the assigned area. To be knowledgeable of shop waste products; its impact on the environment and its proper disposal. Employee Relations. The Shop Supervisor directs the activities of all repair and maintenance personnel. This includes training, scheduling, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and when necessary, disciplinary procedures. The Shop Supervisor approves the time sheets of the mechanics and makes sure each employee's time is accurate and charged to the correct cost account. Equipment Repair and Maintenance. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all mobile equipment. The Shop Supervisor makes sure that all equipment is maintained in accordance with the Mideast Division's Lube Manual and Equipment Maintenance System (EMS) guidelines, and that repairs are made in a manner that will assure maximum equipment availability at an acceptable cost. The Shop Supervisor works closely with Central Services, equipment vendors and manufactures to assure that all mobile equipment is repaired and maintained correctly. The Shop Supervisor will oversee requisitions of all repair parts and maintenance supplies for mobile equipment. Minimum parts inventories should be kept on hand that will ensure a high degree of availability. Cost Control. The Shop Supervisor continuously evaluates the performance of the people and the effectiveness of the repair and maintenance program to look for opportunities for improvement. The Shop Supervisor should implement improvements within his/her scope of authority as soon as possible. Improvements requiring management approval should be presented to the Plant Manager with sufficient detail to justify cost. Coordinating With Other Areas of the Plant. The Shop Supervisor must coordinate mobile equipment repairs and maintenance with the other supervisors at the respective plant to ensure the availability of the necessary equipment for efficient production. Administration. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for maintaining mobile equipment repair and maintenance records through the Equipment Maintenance System (EMS) and other methods. The Shop Supervisor will be also responsible for diesel fuel and bulk lube purchases and making sure appropriate quantities are always available for the mobile equipment fleet. Qualifications
Skills You'll Need: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The candidate must be mechanically inclined. The ability to motivate and effectively accomplish tasks through others is essential.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education. High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred. Experience. The base salary range for this role is between $80,862 - $116,742 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.
