Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will support a cloud initiative, specifically in an organization with automation and Linux platforms. Systems Engineering support will include, but is not limited to the following:
- Serve as the scrum master to ensure the deployment is coordinated, scheduled, tracked, and documented with the appropriate project managers
- Managing projects utilizing the agile methodology
- Daily management of the Jira queue
- Provide project managers with tailored insight into their respective projects by developing/maintaining Jira boards
- Provide project managers with actionable information regarding projects that are maintained within Jira
- Provide timely and accurate information to project managers so they can effectively manage the deployment of releases to development, demo, and test environments
- Provide daily status updates, metrics, during the deployment
- Prepare deliverables (e.g. status reports, plans, schedules, etc.)
- Work closely with the development teams, operational teams, and Program Management Office
- Work closely with the development and operational teams to meet objectives to ensure scrum practices are followed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- Bachelor's degree with 10-12 years of experience, or Master's degree with 8-10 years of experience, or PhD with 5-7 years of experience (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or a scientific or technical discipline
- Analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts/theories for various projects
- Technology Design - Adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs
- Ability to logically and systematically convert customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Ability to analyze and study complete system requirements, for example:
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Apply the concept of operations set of disciplines for the planning, analysis, design and construction of information systems across a major sector of the organization
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
- Experience with activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques
- Gathering, analyzing, assessing and tracking requirements
- Assisting in the preparation of management plans and reports
- Extensive knowledge of SCRUM methodology and the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of the requirements tracking tool JIRA and how best to utilize its functionality in an agile environment
- Ability to translate requirements into end-to-end designs for systems that involve multiple interfaces or activities
- Working knowledge of mission priorities to proactively manage and deconflict actions and Sprint scope
- Work independently and amongst a team with minimal supervision to address roadblocks and deliver results in a timely manner or provide the most relevant course of action
- Demonstrated knowledge of numerous project management methodologies
- Experience running Agile software development efforts
- Experience with successful Agile techniques
- Ability to synthesize information from various resources
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently; a self-starter
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and critical thinking skills
