What you'll do As a Space Systems Engineering Intern, you will be part of a team that is responsible for a broad range of system engineering activities on space related communication technology and systems. You will be responsible for elements such as system requirements configuration/tracability, system integration, and system verification. Internship Program Details: You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12-13 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility. To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable. What you'll need Education Requirements: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field. To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026. Internship Dates: You must be available for the full duration of the 12-13 week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 - August 15th, 2025 Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 - September 12th, 2025 Additional Requirements: Experience with digital/RF communication theory/design Strong communication skills Strong self-drive and confidence to succeed in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Clearance if hired as a full-time employee post-internship US Citizenship required What will help you on the job Familiarity with satellite communications and signal processing. Familiarity with space design concepts/constraints (e.g. environmental effects) Familiarity with SW automation languages (e.g. python) Familiarity with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Salary range $20.91 - $56.97 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $25.96 - $67.07/ hourly At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
