Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The goal of the
UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (
HPDP) is to prevent chronic disease and reduce health disparities. Investigators and staff at
HPDP work with communities to conduct research, provide training and translate research findings into policy and practice. Research areas include nutrition and physical activity, cardiovascular health, diabetes, obesity, healthy food access, cancer prevention and control, children's health, rural health, and health equity.
HPDP is part of a network of 20
CDC Prevention Research Centers across the United States. |
Position Summary |
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
This Project Manager position (Permanent Time Limited - 1 year with a possibility to extend, contingent upon grant funding) will work with The Small Business Technology Transfer Grant. The position will focus their work on the grant from the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities: 'Achieving health equity through food as medicine and medically tailored meals: local economic opportunity.' The Project Manager will be responsible for providing day-to-day management of this project. The Project Manager duties and responsibilities will include managing project timelines to ensure coordination of activities and that they are completed on time, organizing and facilitating project related meetings, maintaining
IRB applications (including modifications and renewals); assisting with training of any research assistants and students, and coordinating submission of reports to
NIH.
The Project Manager, being trained on all study protocols, will manage data collection efforts. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required for data collection training and oversight. The Project Manager works with the data manager on data entry, data cleaning and facilitating data analyses. They are also responsible for tracking project expenses, balancing the budget, and maintaining organized files. The position will learn about and assist on other projects within the research group as needed. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive for meal deliveries, as needed
- Experience or coursework in research methodology.
- Experience managing responsibilities of a study or project.
- Experience supervising employees or students.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- May require some evening and weekend work. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Degree in Public Health Nutrition, Exercise Science, Health Communications, Health Behavior, or other related field.
- Experience with social science research projects, particularly those related to public health nutrition, physical activity, and/or obesity prevention initiatives in young children.
- Human ethics certification.
- Familiarity with the
IRB process.
- Recruiting participants and planning Advisory Committee meetings, taking notes, and providing reports |
