OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a Senior Process Engineer in our Nuclear Services & Technology Team with Radiochemistry experience. This position is based out of our Greenwood Village, CO office; Remote work will be considered for uniquely qualified candidates.

Typical annual pay range for this position is $126,000.00 - $180,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The Process engineer will work primarily on cutting edge nuclear facility and energy projects. Successful candidates will be assigned to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers to execute design and engineering projects.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design processes for the production of radioisotopes/radiopharmaceuticals; nuclear waste treatment; and/or nuclear energy material processing
  • Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of process design deliverables including:
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
    • Orifice, relief valve, and equipment sizing calculations
    • Heat transfer calculations
    • Liquid and gas flow calculations
    • Material and energy balances
    • Process line sizing calculations
    • Equipment and Instrument datasheets
  • Evaluate vendor submittals for selection of instrumentation and equipment.
  • Review and check the work of other process engineers to determine accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procedures.
  • Coordination of design inputs and design activities with other engineering disciplines in a team environment.
  • Ability and desire to lead a team of Process Engineers, work as the Process Lead on large projects.
  • Able to handle multiple projects/tasks at the same time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering from an ABET Accredited Program. (Other engineering degrees may be considered if candidate shows applicable experience).
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years related experience and/or training.
  • Key previous design experience includes:
    • Nuclear waste processing/treatment
    • Production of radioisotopes or radiopharmaceuticals
    • Nuclear energy material processing
  • Experienced user of ChemCad/Aspen/HYSYS (or similar) process simulator and AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow (or similar) for hydraulic pipe flow modeling.
  • Candidate must be capable of and willing to obtain a Q clearance.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) and/or Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) nuclear projects.
