The Server Administrator II (Linux) is a hybrid remote position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

Build and support OEL and SUSE Linux servers in an enterprise environment. Provide on-call support on rotation.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Install, set up, and maintain Linux servers and systems, ensuring high availability and performance to minimize downtime and support business continuity.
  • Monitor system performance to guarantee dependability and availability.
  • Maintain frequent system backups and recovery methods.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Implement and maintain system security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent costly security breaches.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to create and deploy innovative solutions that enhance overall IT infrastructure and support business growth.
  • Maintain documentation of system setups, procedures, and processes to ensure knowledge retention, regulatory compliance, and smooth team transitions.
  • Apply patches, upgrades, and security updates promptly to keep systems up to date, reducing vulnerabilities and maintaining compliance.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings to ensure secure access and data privacy.
  • Monitor and analyze logs to detect and address any issues proactively, preventing potential system failures and ensuring seamless operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Three or more years of proven experience as a Linux administrator, preferably within Red Hat Linux.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. An associate's degree with two additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Relevant certifications (such as RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+) are preferred.
  • Extensive understanding of Linux operating systems (such as OEL, SUSE, and Ubuntu).
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Bash, Python, and PowerCLI.
  • Familiarity with DevOps configuration management tools (such as Ansible and Terraform).
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and methodology.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware and KVM).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, and Openshift).
  • Understanding network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) to manage and query databases effectively.
  • Strong adaptability and flexibility to manage changing priorities and dynamic environments.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented approach.
