Job Summary

Maintaining the integrity of the corporate Geographic Information System (GIS) database by efficiently entering, updating, or correcting information to record the current status of (and changes to) DTE Electric physical, geographical and electrical facilities. This allows standardized electronic records for information retrieval and supports the production of a variety of products that include electrical schematics, geographic maps, and one-line electrical operating diagrams. Gathers and interprets; inputs, checks and files the required data.

Key Accountabilities

- Utilizes technical knowledge to enter new information and record changes to physical, geographical, and electrical facilities (OH, UG, street lighting, work orders, circuit cutovers, TV attachments, field changes, etc.) using computer aided design (Microstation and/or AutoCAD) and GIS (ESRI/ArcMap) software. Also, updates tasks in our workflow management software (Maximo) and maintains documents in our document management system (Documentum).

- Aligns/georeferences CAD construction drawings from developers to the GIS landbase.

- Creates operating maps (OH & UG) for distribution circuits, streetlight, URD, trunks, ties, etc. using CAD and ESRI/ArcMap software.

- Monitors the Geographic Information System database for correctness and completeness and takes appropriate action to correct discrepancies.

- Performs field checks to verify physical, geographical, and electrical facilities information and customer address assignments. Creates all indexes (URD, conduit, street lighting, distribution circuit, trunks, ties, etc.), township maps, and updates the location for residential and commercial customers in the outage management system software.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

- Must have a high school diploma or GED.

- Must have one year of prior job related experience.

-Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and CAD (Microstation and/or AutoCAD) software.

- Demonstrated customer service skills.

- Working knowledge of CAD drawings, and schematics.

- Obtain an evaluation of 'Recommended' on the Technician Occupations test (TECH).

Exception: You will not be required to take the CSR if you are an incumbent and/or

changing location, or have previously taken and passed the test at the same or higher

score.

Preferred: A Technical Diploma or Associate's Degree. Two years of prior job related experience.
