We have a need in SW Houston for a Linux admin core skill set would be Red Hat Linux- version 8 or greater, VMware, F5 load balancing Must be eligible for employment without sponsorship Hybrid Role - SW Houston Overview Team oriented Linux Senior Systems Engineer is focused on systems design and management. This position will support the company's enterprise Linux infrastructure and should have familiarity with the Windows server environment to provide secondary support, as needed. This position will manage a variety of complex assignments related to planning and design of systems to meet business needs, upgrades to existing systems, monitoring and escalated troubleshooting of systems, analyzing system faults and performance issues, and running diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect and resolve issues. Position Responsibilities Ensure optimum monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of system issues and ensures that processes are in place with proper documentation and diagrams where needed Take a lead role on assigned projects and ensure technical and system resources are available to complete tasks as assigned Performs performance monitoring and provide documentation of issues and recommendations to project team. Provide ongoing support of the disaster recovery plan with a focus on building a secure, highly available, environment ensuring successful system restoration of data to meet defined objectives Develop and execute security standards and policies to ensure maximum security from internal as well as outside sources. Develop standards servers and storage streamline requests for resources Develop and maintain a scalable backup solution for the virtualized and standalone environments Skills and Experience 7+ years of experience with advanced systems administration, systems design, hardware and software solution implementation and general server administration Advanced experience with Red Hat Linux administration, Linux bash shell scripting, patching Linux O/S via yum/dnf to patch repository, Linux troubleshooting skills, etc. Familiarity with managing Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 systems Advanced experience working with virtualized environments, ideally in VMware and Cisco Chassis / UCS Blades Servers; good understanding of Cisco networking 5+ years' experience with backup/restore management, patch management, virtual and storage migration, business continuity/disaster recovery planning, knowledge of project management, Preferred experience with F5 Load Balancer and SolarWinds monitoring tools, configuration and support, Vaco values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
