Join us as our new Research Associate

This position works under general supervision, responsible for the routine management of the scientific support laboratory in RTP, including cleaning, organization, licenses, among other activities related with lab routine. The associate scientist is responsible for the execution of planning and execution of analysis to support customer requests and/or internal requests from different areas - sales, TS, marketing and applied R&D.

In this role you'll make a difference by:

Associate Scientist Analysis work is focused on chemical or biological analyses in support of scientific research, customer support, project development or quality testing including:




  • Planning, designing, and conducting simple and intermediate complexity laboratory experiments in an autonomous way.



  • Following methods, identifyingnew equipment, and participatingin method development.



  • Supporting customer requests or complaints, including support to QC and/or QA with Customer Service investigations.



  • Performing compatibility and stability tests between our products and any matrix that will be applied together with the product to provide customer support, including agrochemical, feed matrix, supplements, ingredient, among others.



  • Estimatingthe resources and time required to conduct an experiment and monitoring performance to ensure these targets are met.



  • Supporting for preparation (including blending, packaging, testing) and coordination of samples shipment to internal and external customers and CROs, whenever requested.



  • Maintaining controlof received samples.



  • Collecting, preparing, and testing samples and recording observations.



  • Support for the preparation of detailed reports with results, recommendations, conclusions as well information related with product registration if requested.



  • Performing technical routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order, besides enters maintenance work orders to ensure timely repair of lab facilities and equipment, as well ensure calibrations and certifications.



  • Performing experiments with high reliability.



  • Following hygienic, cleaning and safety rules from the Department and Site.



  • Planning and execution of master sanitation and regular cleaning tasks, keeping the lab clean and organized.



  • Following the rules and instructions for storage, manipulation and disposal of samples following the USDA permit instructions.



  • Utilizingdigital systems and computer programs to advance daily work, support internal and external customers, update databases and control files.



  • Makingpurchases and controlling all orders placed, keeping lab supplies and materials well stocked



  • Participatingregularly in staff and other group meetings, including customer, sales and technical meetings if requested.



  • Organizingand drivingcustomer visits/ Lab tours whenever requested.





To succeed you must hold:




  • Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position



  • Collecting, preparing, and testing samples and recording observations



  • Technical knowhow in microbiology and molecular biology



  • Teamworking attitude and being able to communicate needs with peers and other team members



  • Positive attitude



  • Flexibility required



  • Critical thinking skills and basic problem solving



  • Quality oriented



  • Structured way of working and of report results



  • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.



  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor's or Master's with at least 2 years of relevant experience in Microbiology, Biology and/or Agronomy, and prefer two to three year experience.
