Materials Manager
The Material Manager is responsible to coordinate with all project stakeholders (engineering, procurement, supply chain, transport, construction) to ensure that materials are purchased and delivered according to the project plan (schedule, delivery location, and budget) for offshore wind projects under execution in North America. This includes working closely with Procurement, Project Controls and the Project Management team and following up with suppliers to ensure they are giving an order confirmation that matches the production on site.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain the project material procurement plan and site order list
- Monitor the project schedule and liaise with all different functions to ensure timely deliveries
- Purchase Requisition (PR) creation for direct materials through Material Requirements Planning
- Collaborate with the NPM (New Product Master) team on Bill of Material and Change Notices
- Follow up with the supplier from purchase order issuance to delivery, invoicing and PO closing
- Coordinate with Procurement for price updates and Incoterm changes
- Coordinate with Project Controls for alignment with the production plan
- Responsible for allocating the Purchase Order (PO) cost to the correct budget activity, in coordination with Project Controls.
- Ensure that SAP system is updated with most-up to date information
- Ensure VAT and customs compliance
- Project material configuration - update the project material requirement in SAP incorporating all project development (design, customer requirement, etc).
Qualifications:
- 3 - 5 years' work experience in procurement, buying, construction, service or other related supply chain management field
- Previous experience in Vendor / Subcontractor management
- Wind Industry experience preferred, including familiarity with supply base
- Advanced interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Solution oriented, problem solver
- Cross cultural skills (will work as part of an international team)
- Ability to prioritize during stressful situations
- Project management skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Candidate needs to be diligent, find opportunities and have ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to travel (20 - 25%)
Competencies:
- Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and SAP)
- Ability to work flexible hours and with variety of cultures (coordinating with various time zones)
- Ability to communicate effectively across organizational boundaries with a solid focus on working with and understanding different cultures
- Ability to effectively manage a cross-functional team that may include internal, external, domestic and international stakeholders
- Ability to effectively participate in a cross-functional team
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Work location Brooklyn, NY or Boston, MA
- Ability to travel to other offshore sites for training and onboarding for periods at a time will be required.
