Job Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for managing and supervising a team of manufacturing employees in the production of leaf springs for the automotive industry. This role ensures the efficient and safe execution of production activities to meet company goals. The supervisor will provide leadership, guidance, and training to ensure high levels of productivity and adherence to safety standards.

Primary Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of manufacturing employees engaged in shearing, punching, forging, tempering, heating, peening, assembly, and painting processes.
  • Work closely with production schedulers to ensure daily schedules are met.
  • Train new hires on job duties and ensure all employees are well-versed in safe operation of equipment.
  • Inspect work in progress and finished products to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee attendance, performance, disciplinary actions, and general employment data.
  • Provide guidance to workers for minor maintenance repairs and support daily operational tasks.
  • Participate in departmental and company meetings and contribute to discussions on improving operational efficiency.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Complete supervisory reports related to work-related accidents and safety issues.
  • Address and resolve employee concerns or conflicts, providing solutions as necessary.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures.
  • Maintain accurate production records and submit daily paperwork on time.
  • Prepare and deliver annual performance reviews for employees.
  • Ensure general plant housekeeping standards are met, and assist in security functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondences.
  • Ability to speak effectively to groups of employees and customers.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret and follow various forms of instructions including written, oral, and diagram-based.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three yearsof related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
