We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position ofProcess Engineer supporting the expansion and conversion to membrane cell technology at our Manufacturing Facility/ Chemical Plant located near Convent, LA.
- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority.
- Incorporate Process Safety and Risk Management principles into the foundation of all work performed.
- Participate in any opportunity to enhance safety, upgrade environmental safeguards, and provide for the overall optimization of process operation.
- Provide process leadership for areas of the conversion project.
- Participate in process hazard reviews as part of a multi-discipline team.
- Review and provide feedback on engineering contractor's process designs and equipment documentation.
- Participate in evaluation, selection and coordination of vendors supplying necessary operating services, consulting services, fabrication, materials and equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering with 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Aspen Plus Process simulator.
- Ability to travel to Louisiana plant site and contract engineers' Houston office for a week at a time.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
- Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Experience in capital project process design, construction and commissioning of brownfield and greenfield projects.
- Chlor-alkali plant experience processing chlorine, hydrogen and hydrochloric acid.
- Experience in chemical plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Good working knowledge of SAP.
