Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Shipping Clerk to be based out of Weatherford, TX. The Shipping Clerk's primary focus will be to assist with Paperwork for Truck Load, Less than Truck Load, and small parcel for outgoing shipments. Secondarily assist in prep and loading of LTL, small parcel shipments. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is preferred.

Reporting to the Shipping Manager, the Shipping Clerk's responsibilities will be to assist the Shipping Manager in preparation of orders in shipping, and be the liaison for shipping, customer service and sales department.

What you'll do:



  • Printing packing lists/sales orders
  • Separating orders-Small Packages, LTL, Flat Bed, and TL Vans
  • Using UPS/Fed Ex online shipping software to prepare outbound LTL shipments
  • Creating shipping/address labels
  • Creating bill of ladings for outgoing freight
  • Processing trucking documents, BOL's and Will Call Shipments
  • Assisting in putting together truckloads for shipment
  • Building truck load plans
  • Communicating with trucking companies and couriers, including shipment set-ups, delivery instructions and estimated delivery expectations
  • Entering data into shipping and receiving logs and completing shipping paperwork
  • Appraise, verify, and/or check for accuracy all orders entered into system
  • Answering specific questions from sales and customer service regarding the status of orders
  • Communicate any shipping issue immediately to sales/customer service team
  • Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to handle inquiries and complaints promptly
  • Pull, package, and prep orders for shipment
  • Ability to operate forklift
  • File all packaging slips, bill of ladings, invoices, etc.
  • Answer phones/Transfer Calls/Take Messages
  • Other duties as assigned


What you'll bring:



  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) to five (5) years customer service and/or shipping office experience
  • Experience in shipping or prior success in a Shipping Clerk (or equivalent) position at Atkore International preferred
  • Previous experience using JD Edwards preferred
  • Ability to type at 35 wpm and operate a 10
  • Time management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Effective decision making and problem solving abilities
  • Experience working with shipping and receiving database/software
  • Shipping/material handling experience with knowledge of shipping and receiving principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong initiative and adaptable to change
  • Must be able to thrive in a team environment
  • Need to be detail oriented and have safe work practice


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
