Purpose of the Job

The Director of Salesforce (Horizon) is the product owner responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, development, and execution of Salesforce solutions within the Credit Union. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and product ownership to ensure that Salesforce, internally branded Horizon, aligns with business objectives and delivers exceptional value to both internal stakeholders and members. The position is highly coordinated with cross-departmental leadership in key areas such as Information Technology, Project Management, Marketing, Product Strategy, Operational Transformation, and Member Experience Service Delivery. This role is responsible for effectively communicating and executing the Salesforce/Horizon development roadmap for the organization and serves as a key decision-maker for Salesforce implementations, enhancements, and integrations, driving innovation while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Directs, leads, mentors, and manages a team of Salesforce administrators.
  • Acts as the primary Product Owner for Salesforce, defining vision, goals, and success metrics for the platform.
  • Develops and executes a Salesforce roadmap aligned with organizational goals, balancing long-term strategy with immediate priorities.
  • Advocates for Salesforce capabilities within the organization, championing best practices and staying updated on Salesforce trends and innovations.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership and business units to identify and prioritize Salesforce initiatives that align with business objectives.
  • Coordinates efforts with internal stakeholders and key technical roles such as developers and business analysts within and outside of corporate project management.
  • Partners with third-party development vendors and consultants to ensure implementation and maintenance of salesforce solutions.
  • Oversees the functional development release communications, training, and adoption of Salesforce tools across the organization, ensuring users are empowered to maximize system potential.
  • Manages the product backlog, including gathering requirements, prioritizing features, and working closely with Salesforce administrators and developers to deliver high-value functionality.
  • Ensures the platform remains scalable, secure, and user-friendly for all stakeholders.
  • Oversees Salesforce architecture and integrations, ensuring seamless data flow across systems such as core banking, marketing automation, and customer service platforms.
  • Monitors system performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate upgrades to maintain platform reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensures all Salesforce activities comply with regulatory standards and internal policies, particularly those relevant to financial institutions.
  • Defines and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) for Salesforce usage, adoption, and outcomes.
  • Provides regular updates and insights to stakeholders regarding Salesforce projects, challenges, and achievements.
  • Develops and manages department budget and is responsible for adhering to fiscal guidelines.
  • Assists with other duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of Salesforce platform features, including Financial Services Cloud and Marketing Cloud.
  • Must be proficient in Salesforce administration and development tools.
  • Strong capability to align technology initiatives with business goals and drive increased organizational value.
  • Must have familiarity with core banking systems and other enterprise solutions commonly used in the financial sector.
  • Must have familiarity with Agile methodologies and product management frameworks.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have an understanding of financial services regulations and their impact on technology implementations.
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Must be able to develop and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Must be adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Must be able to motivate employees and build effective teams.
  • Must have the ability to understand all business processes within the Credit Union.
  • Must be detail-oriented and well-organized.
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment.
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required.
  • Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer.
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor meetings, conferences, or team collaboration.

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience with Salesforce, including 3+ years in leadership or product ownership roles.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce integrations, MuleSoft, APIs, and data migration methods and tools required.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale Salesforce implementations and driving user adoption required.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration across departments required.
  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder, and Salesforce Certified Product Owner/Manager are highly desirable.
