The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (Nuclear Cardiology) will be responsible for playing a leading role in the daily clinical operations of the Columbia University Nuclear Cardiology program in Westchester County. Responsibilities include obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations, triaging all clinical questions and concerns from patients, providing educational support on nuclear cardiology protocols and procedures, and obtaining / reviewing lab results under the direction of physicians. The NP will also contribute to cardiac imaging research programs and quality improvement projects.

Responsibilities



  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Triage and address patient clinical questions and concerns.
  • Provide patient education regarding nuclear cardiology procedures and protocols.
  • Review and interpret laboratory results under physician supervision.
  • Document all clinical information accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Order medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor and manage medical supplies, placing orders as needed.
  • Perform basic procedures as directed by physicians, including administering IV medications and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Conduct exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, electrocardiograms (ECGs), blood pressure checks, and phlebotomy.
  • Participate in cardiac imaging research programs and quality improvement projects.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Requires a master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Current NP board certification.
  • Current NYS Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses.
  • Must have excellent personal qualities and customer service skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills necessary.
  • Must have experience with data collection and basic analysis.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Two years of experience in cardiology, critical care, stress testing, and/or internal medicine preferred.


Other Requirements



  • Participation in medical surveillance program:

    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Wear N-95 respirator
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure


  • Must successfully complete applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
