Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field plus three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of demonstrated teaching experience and one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience

  • Associate's degree in related field plus three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of demonstrated teaching experience and one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.
OR
  • A combination of formal training in a career profession such as completion of an apprenticeship program, related work and professional tested experience, and/or relevant licenses and certifications that provide a foundation in the specific subject matter being taught at Metropolitan Community College may be substituted for degree requirements. Applicable degree as outlined above will relate to the field in which courses are being taught.


Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, molecular biology, pharmaceutical science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Extensive knowledge of biotechnology laboratory techniques including recombinant DNA technology, fermentation, protein purification, HPLC, mammalian cell culture, and immunological techniques.
  • Two or more years teaching experience.
  • Two or more years of experience working in a biotechnology or biomanufacturing setting.



Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.


Compensation
The annual salary is $54,867 to $58,159. A competitive benefit package is included.

Class Summary
Incumbents will assist in the development and delivery of on-and off-campus continuing education courses, seminars, and workshops to meet the needs of students, employers, MCC campus, sites and centers, and community agencies. Major duties and responsibilities will include: designing and/or arranging for the development and delivery of continuing education courses conducting surveys in assigned areas to determine the educational and training needs; assisting with the evaluation of training programs, materials, and other educational resources, with these non-instructional duties constituting 51% or greater of essential staff position functions.

Incumbents are responsible for facilitating Continuing Education courses and training services for the Continuing Education division of the institution, with instructional duties limited to 49% or less than full-time faculty workload and/or non-credit teaching responsibilities. Areas of training and facilitation emphasis include but are not limited to: leadership, management, supervisory skills, diversity & inclusion, and other related topics.


Typical Essential Duties

  • Provide training and instruction to continuing education students as needed. Assess programmatic needs for continuing education in conjunction with MCC continuing education staff. Designs and/or coordinates the development and delivery of continuing educations courses and workshops that meet MCC specifications; work may involve conducting surveys and interviews in assigned areas to determine educational and training needs, and ensuring that courses are designed in accordance with student/participant needs and applicable policies and guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the Continuing Education Director, coordinates with faculty, students, and other internal/external staff, departments, and/or agencies to communicate course and departmental information; provide recommendations on what?; Develops and maintains industry and/or community partnerships with local, state and national organizations that are beneficial to program/discipline in order to achieve the mission/goals of the organization or program. Provides student guidance related to program and monitors student success.
  • Assists with evaluating continuing education programs, materials, and other educational resources; work may involve researching and analyzing data on educational trends and other information, and making or implementing recommendations based on findings. Collaborate with appropriate discipline faculty to update and revise continuing education course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain currency and relevance. Maintain familiarity with current textbook, materials, teaching aids and techniques within affected discipline and recommend adoption when necessary. Maintain familiarity with industry certifications, specialized accreditation needs, and / or state qualifications.
  • Prepares and maintains records, student rosters, student attendance, reports, and other documentation, to ensure timely and accurate documentation, present findings, and comply with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Engages in professional development activities specific to continuing education course delivery, content, and trends.

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
