What You'll Be Doing

As the International Shipping Coordinator, you'll have the opportunity to manage all aspects of international freight forwarding shipments. Communicate with oversea customers, track, and trace shipments from door to door. Also, ensure that customer products arrive safely and on time.

Scope and Responsibilities

  • Communicates with carriers and customers about current shipments/bookings
  • Books shipments with carriers on carrier websites, through Rinchem TMS, by telephone call
  • Creates and corrects export documentation (i.e. Bills of Lading, Certificate of Origin, etc.)
  • Tracks and traces shipments from door-door, use carrier website and enters data into TMS
  • Troubleshoots customer questions or shipment issues
  • Communicate with overseas customers and vendor partners, by telephone and by email
  • Follows Job Break Downs (JBDs) or written billing instructions exactly
  • Creates and updates SOP, JBD and other work instructions
  • Audits vendor/supplier invoices, enters data in TMS and passes approved invoices to billing team
  • Negotiate rates with vendor/suppliers to ensure Rinchem pays the best possible prices
  • Supports and trains junior team members
  • Other customer critical tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years Shipping and/or Freight Forwarding experience

Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree or year for year experience

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to create accurate, meaningful and professional correspondence
  • Ability to problem solve and escalate issues appropriately as warranted

Computer Skills:

  • Computer literate
  • Accurate data entry
  • Ability to learn system of record
  • NCR/CAPA System and ability to help determine root cause and make suggestions for continuous improvement
  • MS Excel skills - know how to create basic formulas, move data, create spreadsheets

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

  • Ability to take and pass IATA and/or IMDG Hazardous Materials Certification

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Other Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of international ocean shipping is a must
  • Ability to read and understand an SDS sheet and read IATA and IMDG books
