Job Description: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Conducts emergency evaluations of high-risk individuals to determine level of treatment indicated, and performs clinical services including assessment, crisis intervention, and referral to appropriate resources. 2. For adults brought to Emergency Psychiatry on Mental Inquest Warrants, evaluates against established legal criteria to determine need for hospitalization. 3. Consults with referral sources, outpatient therapists, families, and agencies to whom EPS refers to ensure the best treatment options for the patient. Informs persons key to patient's welfare of disposition decision and referral options. 4. Collaborates with other disciplines on the team to determine least restrictive level of care based upon assessment results. 5. Provides crisis intervention to patients in the EPS holding bed unit, as appropriate. 6. Maintains and completes service documentation, including insurance coverage information, according to prescribed standards. 7. Collaborates with physician in determining clinical and patient care priorities. 8. Coordinates information transfer with social worker or psychologist on overlapping shift to ensure continuity of care. 9. Provides brief orientation to EPS to visiting students or professionals, and assigns non-medical visitors to appropriate staff. 10. Attends and participates in staff meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement teams relating to program administration and development. EDUCATION * Masters degree in human services from an accredited school. * LCSW, CSW, Licensed Psychological Practitioner, Certified Psychologist, Licensed Psychological Associate, LMFT, LPCC, CADC, or RN credential required. EXPERIENCE * Minimum of three to four years of direct inpatient or outpatient clinical experience in psychiatric mental health environment. * Advanced knowledge of mental and physical characteristics of applicable population, crisis intervention, chemical dependency, human behavior, and related issues and community resources and SCS services. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong leadership qualities and supervisory skills. * Ability to handle case load with varying levels of client disability and need.
