Job Description
Position Summary

The Business Development Associate (BDA) is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a reputable organization which provides fuel card sales for the Fuel Program group at Triumph! The BDA is expected to demonstrate the highest-level sales and professional abilities to ensure accuracy and precision of the sales process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Meets monthly, quarterly, and annual financial targets by identifying new prospective customers and generating new accounts.

  • Identifies underlying business problems and unique requirements for potential Triumph clients using open-ended questions to uncover client needs, wants, and challenges.

  • Links Triumph product features and benefits to the potential clients' needs.

  • Creates and conducts effective proposal presentations and responses that identify prospective customers' business problems, the effects of the problems, and the Triumph solutions to their problems.

  • Maintains industry knowledge including knowledge of competitive landscape.

  • Actively seeks out additional training on new products and provides feedback to product development group regarding customer challenges and potential modifications or new Triumph products that could resolve those challenges.

  • Demonstrates the ability to gather and submit detailed business information for underwriting and pricing.

  • Maintains accurate records of all sales activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities including the use of Salesforce to maintain accurate records to maximize portfolio potential.

  • Negotiates non-standard payment terms with new applicants.

  • Anticipates and seeks out potential customers' objections and concerns.

  • Responds to unexpected or challenging questions, price questions, and objections.

  • Understands and leverages the relationship between benefits, value, and price to acquire new customers.

  • Coordinates the implementation and delivery of Triumph products to new customers. Maintains close contacts with customers and establishes a comprehensive customer experience that includes consultation and analysis.

  • Maintains contact with all new customers in portfolio to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.

  • Follows up on customer issues to ensure resolution through appropriate internal and external resources.

  • Plans potential and customer contacts ensuring proper balance is maintained between existing customers and prospective customers.

  • Builds enough pipeline of new customers to maintain portfolio.

  • Other duties may be included, as assigned by the manager, according to the needs of the Fuel Program group and management.

Experience & Education

The successful candidate will possess business operations experience and skills, telephone sales process expertise, analytical and critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred. Will consider four (4) years' experiences in a similar sales environment in lieu of a degree.

  • Phone sales experience required; 1- 2 years of direct sales experience preferred.

  • Formal sales training completion preferred.

  • Evidence of previous sales success and strong work ethic.

  • Understanding of the fuel card industry and sales a strong plus.

Skills & Abilities Required
  • Must have the desire and abilities to sell over the telephone 7-8 hours a day.

  • High level of verbal communication skills and abilities.

  • Ability to understand, manage and communicate complex financial products.

  • Team player with a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to problem solve with a solutions-minded attitude.

  • Demonstrates considerable tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment.

  • Temperament to handle difficult situations in a calm, respectful manner.

  • Bilingual - Spanish/English - a plus, but not required.

  • Ability to build/maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • High level of maturity and stability with an "optimistic" approach.

  • Self-directed and a self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach and hands-on experience with ability to plan and manage personal sales goals and objectives.

  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to work in a confined area.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.

  • Specific vision abilities are required by this job due to computer work.

  • Light to moderate lifting is required.

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
