Duties and Responsibilities:

The News Operations Manager oversees the technical and logistical aspects of a cutting-edge, multi-platform local TV newsroom in the San Francisco Bay Area, while working collaboratively with engineering and tech services. They will demonstrate exceptional leadership to ensure the seamless execution of multiple, simultaneous live newscasts, special productions on location, streaming channels, and dynamic social media content. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of live studio and remote production, while also being curious about new technology, creative in solving problems, and bring a competitive spirit to the market's fast-paced news environment.

• Oversee all aspects of technical operations, ensuring seamless execution of live newscasts, location-based special productions, and streaming content across multiple platforms.
  
• Manage resource allocation and build relationships with vendors to properly support daily newsroom operations and special events.
  
• Ensure workflows are optimized for efficiency and quality, particularly in the use of LiveU, editing systems, Bitcentral video content management, and iNews newsroom production software.
  
• Collaborate with the engineering team to upgrade and maintain newsroom systems, ensuring smooth and reliable operation.
  
• Serve as the liaison between the local newsroom and companywide engineering teams to address technical challenges, execute new initiatives, and implement system improvements.
• Support the development of innovative workflows to enhance content production for OTT platforms and digital audiences.
  
• Monitor performance and quality of content across platforms and recommend improvements for efficiency and reach.
  
• Lead and mentor a team of editors, technical operators, and support staff, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  
• Monitor trends in emerging technologies to help KTVU remain competitive in the changing broadband landscape.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in broadcast television, with at least 3 years in an operational or technical leadership role.

Proficiency with LiveU, Edius editing software, iNews newsroom production software, Bitcentral video management software or equivalent production systems.

Strong knowledge of live production workflows for broadcast, streaming, and social media platforms.

Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with a focus on innovation and problem-solving.

A willingness to learn new skills, embrace emerging technology, and adapt to change to help grow KTVU's audience in the quickly evolving digital landscape.

Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by news coverage demands.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel for location-based productions.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $125,000.00-145,000.00 annually for high cost labour markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $104,100.00-120,800.00 annually for all other US locations. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
