The Senior Production Planner is responsible for scheduling, planning, coordinating, and tracking the flow of hardware and materials throughout the manufacturing process, which includes fabrication, assembly, testing, and shipment. The position involves managing moderately complex tasks across multi-level programs with short turnaround times.


Responsibilities

  • Scheduling & Tracking: Generate schedules, flow sheets, and other tracking tools to monitor work in progress (WIP).
  • Coordination of Parts & Materials: Coordinate the receipt of customer-supplied parts, assign MIT numbers, and collaborate with Program Managers, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Production, Stockroom, and Shipping/Receiving departments to ensure smooth flow of materials. Oversee customer source inspections of hardware.
  • Kitting & Production Management: Track kits through routing operations and QA inspections. Expedite kits, manage kit splits, scraps, and re-generations as necessary. Address and resolve production issues by coordinating with the appropriate teams.
  • Shipping Documentation: Ensure the preparation of pick lists, travelers, packing slips, and other necessary shipping paperwork.
  • Configuration Control: Provide necessary drawings, instructions, and procedures to manufacturing teams. Maintain configuration control of production hardware, including managing Traveler Change Orders (TCO) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
  • Rework Instructions: Develop and issue rework instructions for kit splits and routing changes.
  • Safety Compliance: Participate in safety training and actively adhere to safety policies and practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the maintenance of 5S in your work area and suggest improvements. Actively participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities to improve processes and enhance cross-functional collaboration.
  • Collaboration & Support: Engage in team meetings and activities
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in production control, materials, scheduling, and/or manufacturing, with at least three (3) years of experience in production control or materials management.
  • Three (3) years of experience in production control planning within an ERP environment.
  • Proficiency in a networked environment using Windows or similar interfaces and expertise in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • One to two (1-2) years of experience with SAP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret DoD Clearance.

Salary Range: $81,765 - $117,500 annually (San Diego, CA). Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
