The Staff Process Engineer will lead activities between operations, quality, planning, and maintenance teams to ensure production targets and cost improvement goals are met for items produced at the manufacturing plant. You will facilitate interactions with multi-functional areas such as, operations, product development, supply planning, and upstream manufacturing to ensure the project schedules are maintained. You will have Project Management responsibilities which include budgeting, planning, tracking, and administration to deliver a variety of projects which include new product introductions and capital acquisitions projects.

What will you be doing?

  • Coordinate and run multiple manufacturing projects. Ensure manufacturing requirements, cost, quality, and timing expectations are met.
  • Design procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Coordinate the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Own the sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Coordinate machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Responsible for oversight of incorporating inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate/initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
  • Mentor engineers regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best use equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures follow regulations.
  • Provide technical solutions and improvements to manufacturing processes and ensure cost and quality expectations are met.
  • Independently define goals and manage machine development and automation projects, participate in developing plans, responsibilities, and timelines. Able to drive through challenges to deliver on commitments. Communicate clearly in verbal, written, and graphical formats. Ability to multi-task and manage programs.
  • Understand requirements for software validation, Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ) and Process Qualification (PQ) as it relates to production equipment validation. Coordinate or drive equipment, process, and software qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC), machine vision and automated inspection methods.
  • Demonstrate a passion for driving innovation, process capability and delivering results that serve patient and business needs. Effectively listen to others by asking clarifying questions that gain an understanding of other points of view. View and communicate change as a way of life and address resistance to change appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

What will you need to be successful?

  • BS /MS in Engineering, Science, or related field with 10+ years' professional work in CNC machining and CAD/CAM.
  • Medical Device experience is a plus.
  • Experience with implementing / programming / configuring CNC machine tools for manufacturing.
  • Build and maintain multi-axis CNC programs to produce parts using CAD/CAM software. Experience using Vericut and UG NX preferred.
  • Develop CNC machining processes by selecting the chucking device, cutting tools, tool arrangement, and cutting speeds and feeds with emphasis on standardization.
  • Experience in understanding various manufacturing Process including CNC milling, mill turning, Grinding, and/or polishing.
  • Manage multiple CNC project integrations with the emphasis to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Requires standing/walking, sitting, and lifting 25 pounds throughout the day.
