YOUR OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting Director of Sows opportunity in our Guymon, OK office. As the Director of Sows at Seaboard Foods, your mission is to lead and optimize the sow phase of our operations, overseeing a substantial herd of 140,000. Your primary focus will be on cultivating a culture of excellence, enhancing sow livability, driving continuous improvement, reducing, and controlling costs, leveraging data and analytics for informed decisions, and maintaining rigorous biosecurity measures. Additionally, you will spearhead innovative approaches to increase throughput and decrease sow mortality rates, ensuring sustainable and efficient sow phase operations. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cultivate a Culture of Excellence: Foster a culture of best practices, high standards, and accountability within the sow phase operations.
- Enhance Sow Livability: Prioritize the health and well-being of the sow herd, implementing strategies to improve sow livability rates and overall animal care.
- Prioritize Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all employees involved in the sow phase, implementing and enforcing safety protocols and practices to minimize risks and accidents while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Continuously assess and optimize processes, technologies, and practices to maximize productivity, efficiency, and welfare.
- Cost Reduction/Control: Develop and execute strategies to reduce and control costs while maintaining exceptional sow management standards.
- Leverage Data and Analytics: Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making, monitor key performance indicators, and implement data-driven solutions to sow production challenges.
- Maintain Biosecurity: Ensure strict biosecurity measures are in place to protect the sow herd from disease and external threats, collaborating with veterinary services and biosecurity experts.
- Lead a High-Performing Team: Manage and develop a team of Production Managers and Directors, providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Collaborate with Support Departments: Work closely with support functions, including veterinary services, supply chain, and quality assurance, to guarantee seamless sow phase operations.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the overall strategic planning of the company, aligning sow phase operations with corporate goals and objectives.
CORE COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS IN ALL ROLES: instills trust, communicates effectively, action-oriented, ensures accountability, and drives results. QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ Years in Sow Farm Management and leadership required
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred or two to four years of related Senior Leadership experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to produce results and leadership development in commercial swine production.
- Applicant must exhibit strong technical swine production knowledge.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Bilingual, English, and Spanish are preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clear motor vehicle record (MVR).
