SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for an Optician in our CSC Optical Shop. This casual position will pick up day shifts.

Provide high quality optical services and products to our patients. In partnership with the department of Ophthalmology leadership, contribute to continued success and development of the HCMC Optical Shop.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory of eyewear, accessories and supplies
  • Assist patients with eyewear selection
  • Educate patients regarding eyewear options and care of eyewear
  • Perform appropriate eyewear measurements, adjustments, and minor repairs to eyewear
  • Coordinate and prioritize workflow for eyewear orders
  • Ensure eyewear orders are correct and dispensed to patients in timely manner
  • Accurately and efficiently schedule and register patients utilizing the electronic health record

    • This includes verification of patient insurance and demographics


  • Accurately and thoroughly document patient encounters using the electronic health record
  • Facilitate reimbursement for all optical services rendered
  • Perform other duties as assigned, but only when trained to do so

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of opticianry program
  • Two years optician experience


OR



  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification
  • Experience in an ambulatory health care setting
  • Experience in charge and code entry for optical procedures
