Intern - Strategic Planning

Cone Health's Strategy and Planning team is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Strategic Planning Intern. This team provides direct strategy and planning support across the Cone Health enterprise, focused on market dynamics and insights, growth and development opportunities, and long-term significance and sustainability of the organization.

The Strategic Planning internship is an intensive opportunity available to incoming undergraduate seniors or first-year graduate students who are looking for dynamic experiences in healthcare strategy and administration. During this program, you will be provided with the appropriate level of support and training, and you will also have the opportunity for exposure to a broad, system-level view of the organization.

Throughout your time you will work on projects critical to Cone Health's success in 2025. Not only will you be challenged to think differently, you will also have the opportunity to demonstrate strategic insight while applying business acumen.

We seek candidates with strong academic backgrounds who have completed significant coursework in business, management, marketing, project management or other relevant areas of study. Candidates must be highly motivated, analytical, detail oriented, able to work independently or in teams, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. This internship will be hybrid, both onsite and remote.

This internship position is a time-limited, temporary position with a start date of June 2, 2025. The total number of hours that an intern can work during this timeframe is 250 hours.

Interns hired for the summer cohort will be enrolled in Campus Greensboro's Summer Fellows Program. This is an in-person, professional development training program sponsored by Cone Health.

To be considered, candidates must meet at least one of the below criteria:

  1. Local College Students: Attendees of local institutions including University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford College, Greensboro College, Guilford Technical Community College, Bennett College, Elon University and School of Law, North Carolina A&T State University.
  2. Guilford County High School Graduates: Those who graduated from Guilford County high schools and are now furthering their education outside of Greensboro.
  3. First Generation College Students: Students who are the first in their families to attend any college or university.

Assists strategy and planning team with development of standard documents and processes related to Cone Health's Strategic Plan, including developing meeting timelines, agendas, and support documents.

Performs research on best practices for strategic collaboration across the organization and distills that research into actionable insights.

Helps the strategy and planning team identify ways to develop a pipeline of talented business, administration, and management individuals for future strategic planning roles.

EDUCATION:
  • Incoming undergraduate seniors or first-year MBA students
  • Preferred Majors: Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Management, Marketing
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytic, and evaluative skills
  • Action-oriented, self-starter with a strong learning focus
  • Intermediate/Advanced proficiency in MS Office
  • Attention to detail and ability to effectively and efficiently perform multiple tasks and balance competing priorities often within a required timeframe
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work well with limited oversight and under ambiguity
  • Action-oriented, self-starter with a strong learning focus
  • Experience and knowledge of healthcare (desired, not required)
