Position Overview:
NYU School of Medicine at Woodhull Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Infectious Control Attending to join our team. This role will oversee infection prevention and control efforts across the medical center, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and providing expert guidance in managing infectious diseases. The position involves both direct clinical responsibilities and leadership within the Infection Control Department, working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead and manage the Infection Control Program in compliance with regulatory requirements (CDC, OSHA, NYS DOH, etc.).
  • Develop and implement infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Oversee surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Provide expert consultation to physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff regarding infection control practices and strategies.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration, nursing, and medical teams to ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Conduct regular infection prevention audits, reviews, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Provide leadership and education to infection control staff and hospital personnel on infection prevention strategies, including isolation precautions and sterilization techniques.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, patient care meetings, and policy-making processes to ensure the highest level of infection control practices.
  • Stay informed of current infectious disease trends, best practices, and emerging threats.
  • Prepare and deliver reports to senior management and regulatory agencies regarding infection control performance and trends.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the hospital related to infection control.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and attending relevant conferences for ongoing professional development.


Qualifications:



  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with a valid license to practice medicine in New York.
  • Board Eligible but Board Certification in Infectious Disease (or related specialization) preferred.
  • Perferred with experience minimum of 3-5 years of experience in infection control, epidemiology, or infectious disease management within a hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards (CDC, NYS DOH, Joint Commission, etc.).
  • Proven experience in infection surveillance, data analysis, and outbreak investigation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, patients, and management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Prior teaching experience and leadership capabilities are a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.
  • Experience with hospital accreditation processes and infection control-related quality initiatives.
  • Research experience in infectious diseases and infection control is a plus.


Salary: $235,000 - $255,000 (commensurate with experience)
