A Day In The Life
The Senior Data and Analytics Architect leads the strategy, design, and implementation of enterprise data platforms, data modeling, analytics, and AI-driven solutions. This role will oversee data architecture initiatives, ensure data governance, optimize cloud and on-premise data solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable data and analytics infrastructure that supports business intelligence, advanced analytics, and AI/ML solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data warehousing, data lakehouse, data modeling, integration, and cloud-based data platforms. They also possess strong leadership and commitment skills to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, IT teams and data scientists.

As a Sr D&A Architect you will:

Data Architecture & Platform Development:

  • Design and develop enterprise-wide data and analytics architecture, data models and DataOps, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, and alignment with business requirements and technology trends.
  • Architect and optimize data lakes, data warehouses, and virtualization platforms like Denodo, to support data-driven solutions and BI workloads across environment.
  • Lead the integration of cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Databricks, SAP Datasphere, Power BI, OpenAI) with on-premise systems (SAP BW/4HAHA, SQL, Denodo, Tableau).
  • Oversee the implementation of data storage solutions (AWS, SQL, NoSQL) and ensure their optimization for performance, cost and accessibility.

Data Engineering & Integration:

  • Define and implement data models, pipelines, and integration strategies to support enterprise-wide analytics and reporting needs.
  • Lead the design and implementation of ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines using technologies such as Databricks, Apache Spark, and Kafka.
  • Develop and manage near real-time data pipelines for business operational and transactional data.
  • Develop and maintain efficient API-based data integration processes for connecting internal and external systems.
  • Lead the integration of SAP data platform with cloud platforms (AWS, Databricks) and Denodo for data virtualization and abstraction.

Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics & AI/ML:

  • Lead the architect, modeling and optimization of real-time analytics dashboards and data visualization solutions.
  • Drive adoption of self-service BI platforms such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of data and analytics systems to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Drive innovation through AI applications for business insights, anomaly detection, and process optimization. Collaborate with data science teams to integrate AI/ML models into analytics pipelines.

Data Governance, Security & Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain metadata management, master data management, data catalog, and lineage tracking using best practices and tools.
  • Develop and enforce data quality standards, implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to maintain data integrity and reliability.
  • Implement data governance policies, data privacy, security, encryption, and access control measures across platforms.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data and analytics.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and technologies for data warehousing, big data, and analytics.
  • Lead proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives for new technologies.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, IT teams, and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide data engineers, architects, and analysts on best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to align data initiatives with business goals.

What We Need From You:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, or a related field. Req
  • 10+ years in data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, data engineering, and analytics, with at least 5 years in a senior role. Required
  • 5-7 years as a Cloud Data Architect with end-to-end implementation of cloud data warehouse and end-to-end implementation of on-premise data warehouse such as SQL or SAP BW. Required
  • Strong track record of successfully leading technical data strategy, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale cloud enterprise data warehouse platforms to support analytics including data science and AI on one of the cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or GCP. Required
  • Data Management: enterprise data modeling (business, logical, conceptual and physical models), database design, metadata management, master data management, data cataloging; Deep understanding of relational as well as NoSQL data stores, methods and approaches (star and snowflake, dimensional modelling). Preferred
  • Cloud Platforms and Services: AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue), Databricks, SAP BTP. Preferred
  • Data Engineering, Integration and ETL/ELT Workflows: Databricks, PySpark, Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Kafka; Experience with JDBC, XML, and Web Services APIs, with a focus on integrating diverse data sources. Preferred
  • Programming & SQL: Python, SQL, Scala, R, PL/SQL; Proficiency in RDBMS, complex SQL, PL/SQL, Unix Shell Scripting, performance tuning and query optimization, including analysis of SQL execution plans. Preferred
  • BI & Analytics: advanced skills in Tableau, Power BI, API-based data integration, AI/LLM (OpenAI) and ML (Databricks) integration. Preferred
  • DevOps & Automation: CI/CD for data pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Preferred
  • Data Warehousing and Virtualization: SQL, SAP BW, SAP Datasphere, Denodo. Preferred
  • Data Migration: Experience in Data Migration from RDBMS to Cloud. Preferred
  • Databricks: Expertise in deploying databricks features such as Delta Lake, Delta Table, DLT, Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing; And advanced features such as esource monitors, RBAC controls, cluster sizing, query performance tuning, time travel. Create high-level design and architecture of the solution, including class, sequence and deployment infrastructure diagrams; Create and maintain technical documentation within a centralized code repository and database modeling tools. Troubleshoot across data, infrastructure, platform and application domains. Preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP modules and applications, including CDS views, BW queries, and HANA databases, with the ability to integrate these into broader data architectures. Preferred
  • Experience with real-time data processing and streaming architecture. Preferred
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML models into data pipelines. Preferred
  • Familiarity with version control systems like GIT. Preferred
  • Broad knowledge of business processes in auto / distribution industry. Preferred

Physical and Environmental RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.

Travel Requirements
20% Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis).
