ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Northern Air Maintenance Services (NAMS) is an FAA certified 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. We are the sole maintenance provider for ConocoPhillips' fleet of three DHC-8-400 (Q400) aircraft. In addition to maintenance services, NAMS handles ground operations, inventory control, and passenger screening for all flights between Anchorage, Kuparuk and Alpine. With over 70 dedicated employees, we also provide contract maintenance for two DHC-6-300/400 Twin Otters and one CASA 212-300 aircraft based in Alpine, AK.

SALARY

The compensation for this position starts at $34.00 per hour. This position is eligible for a $3.00 job premium and applicable license premium pay.


BONUS INFORMATION

There is a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a $7,500 retention bonus after 12 months of successful employment.

SUMMARY:

The NAMS Kuparuk Mechanic reports to the Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor at the Anchorage maintenance base. While on duty in Kuparuk, Alaska the NAMS Kuparuk Mechanic works for and takes direction from the Anchorage based NAMS Maintenance Lead on duty.

The NAMS Kuparuk Mechanic must have practical experience and training on DeHavilland Q400 aircraft and PW150 engine systems to include troubleshooting, component replacement, and repair.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform aircraft maintenance duties in accordance with company, customer, and manufacturers' maintenance manuals, including airworthiness release of aircraft (AWR).
  • Perform daily through flight turn around checks on DeHavilland Q400 including servicing, repairs and dispatch as required.
  • Perform and assist with emergency enroute maintenance on the ConocoPhillips Aviation Alaska Q400, CASA or OTTER aircraft at various location in Alaska, as required
  • Perform weekend scheduled, unscheduled and intervaled maintenance and associated tasks on the ConocoPhillips CASA or OTTER aircraft stationed at Alpine, Alaska when requested by ConocoPhillips.
  • Comply with Service bulletins, company and customer policies and procedures, and applicable FAA regulations by performing the duties herein.
  • Must be proficient in using tools, equipment, and inspection aids applicable to the scope of the work assigned.
  • Must be able and available to work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off rotating schedule, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Must complete annual proficiency training at Anchorage, Alaska location.
  • Perform parts, tools, and equipment inventories, cleaning, and repairs.
  • Will perform the duties of Flight Mechanic when scheduled.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Two (2) years' experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Must possess valid Airman Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must have a valid Passport or obtain one within the first 6 Months of employment.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • A moderate degree of reasoning, math skills, and language skills are required for this position. High School levels are sufficient for all areas.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with coworkers and customers.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to work with little or no supervision and accomplishes tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, 5-year background check, 10-year criminal history check and security threat assessment.

  • The work is classified as "heavy" with regards to the physical demands.
  • Lifting/carrying requirements: Up to 70 pounds occasionally. Reptitions will vary with projects.
  • Climbing: Ability to climb and stand on ladders for up to 2 hours at a time while performing aircraft maintenance.
  • Reaching: Full range of motion may be required to perform the essential functions of this position
  • Standing/Walking: 75% of the day. Concrete floor in Hangar and paved ramp (Kuparuk) gravel and dirt (Alpine). Surfaces can be wet and icy.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Up to 100 pounds; Moving tools and equipment.
  • Crawling: Moderate amount of crawling required.
  • Repetitive Bending/Twisting: Moderate.
  • Talking: Talking is required throughout the day, communication with customers and co-workers will be required.
  • Vision: Good vision is required to perform all tasks.
  • Hearing: Good hearing is required for effective and safe communication with co-workers.


WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Most work is performed in an aircraft hangar/warehouse type setting or outdoors.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, moving aircraft and equipment, dirt, dust, fumes, heat and cold.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, exhaust fumes.
  • Working in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Work outside in the harsh winter conditions up to 2 hours at a time while performing aircraft maintenance.
  • Use of personal protective equipment including respirators maybe required.


TRAVEL:



  • Travel to Kuparuk, AK and Alpine, AK on rotating shift required.
  • Occasional in/out of country travel will be required.
