Job Description:

Outreach Advisors provide high-touch advising and support to diverse students and their universities and families, with a focus on admitted students preparing to study abroad. This position includes several weeks per semester of in-person/on-campus and virtual visits at DIS partner universities across the U.S. to recruit, advise, and prepare students, and meet with education abroad staff and faculty. You'll often work independently, both on campus and in your advising; collaborating across the organization to develop communication content and strategies; and tracking student progress and preparation for study abroad. Depending on the season, you'll also process student visas, coordinate print distribution, conduct online research, and support events and conferences.

This position reports to the Director of Outreach and is based at the DIS North American Office (St Paul, MN), currently a hybrid work environment.

60% Outreach & Advising
Serve as the first point of contact for admitted students preparing to study at DIS, as well as their universities and families - via email, phone, on campus, or virtually
Track student registration submissions to completion, ensuring student preparedness
Guide students through visa and residence permit applications; assemble applications and advise students and their families and home universities in collaboration with DIS colleagues and embassy/consulate staff
Develop and deliver tailored pre-departure communications and materials (presentations, newsletters, online modules, social media, etc) that resonate with students, partners, and parents from diverse communities and cultures
Conduct admissions interviews, review student applications for admission, and make admission recommendations

30% Campus Relations
Represent DIS nationally at partner schools through campus visits in order to sustain and build enrollment
Plan, book, and conduct own campus visit tours, including study abroad fairs, meetings with students and faculty, information sessions, classroom presentations, and pre-departure orientations
Coordinate DIS participation in campus visits and events including tracking event details, assembling and shipping materials and communicating information to staff attendees
Stay up to date on the universities and majors that utilize DIS programs, including potential areas of curricular growth
Communicate updates with partner institution advisors and faculty, and discuss/interpret their needs to identify further DIS collaboration opportunities

10% Administrative and Other Duties
Provide support to Director and Assistant Director of Outreach
Data collection and analysis, market research, communication campaign tracking, and other ad hoc
Promote, support, and participate in education abroad efforts with university partners, professional associations and organizations

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree plus at least two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least six years
Ability and willingness to travel nationally several weeks each semester including by car, plane, and mass transit, including evenings and weekends. Must have a driver's license.
Candidates must be able to carry boxes and materials (up to ~50 pounds)
Strong written and oral communication, including comfort with public speaking
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Detail-oriented, self-directed, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with a flexible, positive, proactive attitude
Ability to clearly and respectfully communicate and collaborate with all levels of an institution including students, staff, faculty, and administrators and with individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications
Experience living, working, studying, interning, or volunteering in another cultural context, and the ability to articulate the value thereof
Study abroad participation with DIS, and/or a high level of familiarity with DIS programs/model
A sense of humor!

DIS - Study Abroad in Scandinavia is a Danish non-profit educational foundation with programs in Copenhagen and Stockholm and a North American Office in St Paul, Minnesota. We offer high-impact semester, academic year, summer, and custom learning experiences taught in English to undergraduate students from distinguished North American colleges and universities. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $46,000-49,000 annually, depending on education/qualifications/experience
