Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Corporate Security Specialist to join our growing team!

Role Summary

The Corporate Security Specialist is primarily responsible for implementing corporate security policies, procedures, and programs across Buckeye's East Region which stretches from Maine to Virginia. This position will provide close support to regional terminal/pipeline operations on a wide range of topics. The ultimate mission is to help ensure the safety and security of Buckeye employees and assets, as well as Buckeye's compliance with various security regulations. This position will be based within the Buckeye East Region.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions Include:



  • Serve as the regional subject matter expert (SME) on security regulations and provide compliance guidance and support to regulated sites.
  • Conduct compliance audits of regulated facilities.
  • Conduct security risk assessments of regional assets to ensure that security measures are risk appropriate.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key government partners including the FBI, state police, state fusion centers, local law enforcement, and the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Identify and analyze security threats, trends, and tactics that pose a risk to Buckeye employees, operations, and projects. Threats include, but are not limited to, local crime, environmental extremists, and various subgroups of domestic violent extremists.
  • Deliver appropriate training on behalf of Buckeye Corporate Security (e.g., Active Shooter Awareness).
  • Ability to become proficient in the administration of video monitoring and access control systems.
  • Support field sites in troubleshooting and resolving issues with video monitoring and access control systems.
  • Support regional project managers in developing scopes, soliciting proposals, and managing new security projects.
  • In coordination with Buckeye's Legal, Human Resources, and Operations stakeholders, conduct or support sensitive internal investigations in the Region.
  • Lead or support investigations of security incidents at field locations, including documenting lessons learned and corrective actions.



Position Requirements



  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Buckeye prefers to base this position in the Eastern Pennsylvania/New Jersey area, but other major cities in the East Region will be considered (i.e., New York, Baltimore, Wilmington, Greater Washington DC area).
  • Experience: 10+ years in law enforcement, with positions of progressive responsibility a plus; or 5+ years in corporate security preferably in the oil & gas or petrochemical sectors.
  • Travel Requirements: up to 30% including travel by car or air within the East Region as well as any other Buckeye locations within the continental United States and Caribbean Region.
  • 24/7 availability is required. Extended work hours are required occasionally during elevated threat conditions, investigations, and incident response.



Certificates & Licenses



  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) is a plus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to professionally engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels is essential.
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in producing Intelligence and Risk Assessments.
  • Willingness to learn and understand the Midstream Pipeline industry.
  • Demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Special skills: Experience in managing enterprise video and access control systems preferred.



Essential Functions

Physical & Safety Requirements



  • This position requires adherence with DOT Drug and Alcohol testing requirements.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Pass background and social media screening, drug test, and/or medical examination.
