The Sustainability Carbon Accounting Specialist is responsible for measuring, analyzing, and reporting carbon emissions and sustainability metrics to support corporate environmental goals. This role involves tracking greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to sustainability strategy development. The specialist will work cross-functionally to enhance carbon accounting methodologies, support ESG reporting, and drive initiatives that reduce the organization's carbon footprint.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carbon Accounting & Emissions Reporting
  • Develop and maintain accurate carbon accounting methodologies in alignment with international standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, Science-Based Targets, CDP).
  • Collect, analyze, and report Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data across company operations and supply chains.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and voluntary reporting frameworks (e.g., SEC climate disclosures, TCFD, CSRD).
  • Conduct life cycle assessments (LCA) to evaluate environmental impact across products and services.
  • Prepare carbon footprint reports and contribute to corporate sustainability disclosures.
  • Sustainability Strategy & Climate Action Planning
  • Support the development and implementation of corporate sustainability and carbon reduction strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for emissions reductions, energy efficiency improvements, and renewable energy integration.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide expertise on carbon offsets, renewable energy credits (RECs), and carbon pricing mechanisms.

Data Management & Analytics

  • Implement and manage sustainability data tracking tools and software for accurate emissions measurement.
  • Perform data validation, trend analysis, and benchmarking to inform sustainability decision-making.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate emissions data and progress toward climate targets.

Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance

  • Work with procurement, operations, and supply chain teams to assess and improve supplier sustainability performance.
  • Engage with industry groups, NGOs, and regulatory bodies to stay informed on best practices and policy developments.
  • Support ESG reporting efforts by providing data for investor disclosures, sustainability reports, and corporate presentations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, or environmental consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of carbon accounting frameworks (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, CDP, TCFD, etc.).
  • Experience with sustainability data management tools (e.g., SIMAP, Sphera, EcoAct, Energy Star Portfolio Manager).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data visualization tools, and sustainability reporting software.

Work Conditions:

  • May require occasional travel for sustainability conferences, audits, or supplier engagement.
