Mission:

Industrial Engineering focuses on Optimizing the Production organization's methods, processes and equipment in order to meet production schedules, efficiency, costs, quality and safety. The role includes the design, development and implementation of new or revised production processes and tools for the efficient/economical production of goods. The Production / Industrial engineer will also coordinate special projects related to plant layouts and relocation as required, and will apply quality and Continuous Improvement tools utilizing Lean Six Sigma (L6S) and 5s methodologies. Reporting to the Production Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensures appropriate production methods, cycle-time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production targets.
  • Ensures the production process complies with the project targets.
  • Review and redesign arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs, develops, and implements new or revised production processes.
  • Defines the working phase sequence of production process, creating as required Work Center and Routing set-ups in the company ERP/MRP system (SAP S4).
  • Conducts measurements or tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables.
  • Measures Key performance Indicators relevant to reach safety, quality, delivery and profitability objectives.
  • Troubleshoots and solves production and product quality problems.
  • Works in cross functional teams to execute the strategy and escalates as necessary to remove roadblocks.
  • Identifies and recommends improvement opportunities and implements improvement projects, ensuring adherence to timeframe, quality and cost requirements.
  • Evaluates new process technologies to improve productivity, quality and cost reduction, defining and leading testing activities, approval criteria and external provider choices.
  • The role is primarily focused on the High Voltage Service workshop, but may also include special cross-functional projects involving the gas plant, tool pool and warehouse.
  • Implement shop floor improvements and company programs, such as 5S, daily visual management and Lighthouse.
  • Ensures compliance with Group health, safety and environmental directives, assessing risks and safety hazards and implementing actions to ensure people and equipment safety.

Knowledge, skills, experience:

  • Bachelor's degree on Industrial Engineering. Candidates with BSc on Electrical or Mechanical engineering may be considered depending on past experience in the field
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience in manufacturing, Continuous Improvement or Quality capacity.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (preference to Green Belt certified professionals).
  • Excellent ability to communicate with teammates.
  • Good computer skills, previously worked with MS Office365, SharePoint, and SAP. Power BI knowledge is a plus.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
